How to make an invoice here

    1. Choose a template

Pick the document type (invoice, quote, receipt and more) and a layout. You can change either later without retyping anything.

    2. Add your details and work

Upload your logo, choose a color, then add your client, dates and line items. Totals, tax and discounts calculate as you type.

    3. Download or print

Get a PDF named after the invoice number and client, ready to email. Save a copy to reopen later, or start the next invoice with the number already bumped.

    Why there's no sign-up

Most “free” invoice tools ask for an email first, then use it to sell you accounting software. Ours doesn't, because it doesn't need to. The whole generator runs in your browser: the page loads once, and after that your invoice is built and turned into a PDF on your own device.

That has a practical upside beyond privacy. There's nothing to log in to, so there's nothing to forget, and the tool keeps working on a slow connection once it's open.

The trade-off is honest: we can't store your invoice history on a server or send invoices for you. If you need recurring billing, online card payments or automatic reminders, a full accounting app is the better fit. Our guide on when to move from templates to invoicing software walks through that decision.

What happens to what you type

    • It's saved in this browser's local storage so you can close the tab and come back.
    • Your logo is resized on your device. It isn't uploaded anywhere.
    • The PDF is generated on your device. We never see it.
    • “Save a copy” gives you a small file you can reopen here on any computer.
    • Clearing your browser data deletes your saved invoice, so keep that copy if it matters.

    What a complete invoice includes

If a client's accounts team sends your invoice back, it's usually because one of these is missing.

    Always

    • The word “Invoice” and a unique, sequential number
    • Your business name and contact details
    • The client's name (and their address for business clients)
    • The invoice date and the due date or payment terms
    • What you did or sold, with quantities and prices
    • The total, and how to pay you

    Often required

    • Your VAT or GST number and the tax at each rate (UK, EU, Australia and others)
    • The client's purchase order number, if they gave you one
    • Late payment terms, if you intend to charge interest or fees
    • A shipping address for goods, or a job site for trade work

    Questions people ask

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. There's no paid tier, no trial and no watermark on the PDF. The site is supported by ads on the guide pages.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You fill in the form and download the PDF. Your details are saved in your own browser (local storage) so they're still there next time, but they never reach our server.

    Where is my data stored?

Only on your device. The invoice, your logo and your client details stay in this browser. Clearing your browser data removes them, so use “Save a copy” if you want a backup file you can reopen later.

Can I add my own logo?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP in step 2. It's resized inside your browser, and you can pick small, medium or large.

Which currencies and taxes are supported?

Thirty common currencies with correct symbols and formatting. Tax can be one rate for the whole invoice (sales tax, VAT, GST) or a different rate per line.

    Is the PDF text selectable?

Yes. The download includes an invisible text layer, so you can search and copy from it. For the very sharpest print, use “Print or save as PDF”, which uses your browser's own PDF engine.

Can I make quotes, estimates and receipts too?

Yes. Change the document type in step 1. There are dedicated pages for receipts, quotes and estimates and proforma invoices.

Is an invoice from this site legally valid?

An invoice is valid because of what's on it, not the software that made it. Include the details your country requires (for example a VAT number and tax breakdown in the UK or EU). Our guide on what to include on an invoice lists them.
